Convert image.

Switch an image between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF and JPEG XL without installing anything. WebP and AVIF shrink photos hard for the web, JPEG XL is the newest and most efficient, PNG keeps transparency, and JPG is universally supported. This converter decodes and re-encodes locally with the same codecs Squoosh uses, so your images are never uploaded. AVIF and iPhone HEIC files are accepted as input too.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats are supported?

Output is JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or JPEG XL. Input can be JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or anything your browser can decode.

What are AVIF and JPEG XL for?

Both are modern formats that make much smaller files than JPG or PNG at the same quality. AVIF is now supported in every major browser; JPEG XL is newer and even more efficient but not yet universal, so check where you need to open the file. Both encode on WebAssembly right here in your browser.

Does converting to JPG remove transparency?

Yes — JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas become a solid background. Use PNG or WebP to keep transparency.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser and works offline.
